IT services

The team uses a diverse range of IT services. As a stand-alone unit on a general hospital campus SWLEOC uses a combination of trust wide software tools such as the Patient Management system, PACS, Pathology services, Electronic Staff Records, email and systems that are specific to SWLEOC such as Lifebox, Bluespier and EOC Outcomes. In addition, transfer of demographic, clinical and imaging information is needed to manage patients from Croydon, Kingston and St Georges. Seamless integration of stand-alone systems depends upon close collaboration between IT suppliers, partnership hospitals and the host trust’s IT team. Listed below are details on the IT services that the centre uses, supplier details, support arrangements and information on how each system is used.

Outcomes programme

EOC outcomes

All patients undergoing hip, knee and shoulder arthroplasty surgery receive Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) questionnaires. PROMs are health outcome measures using validated questionnaires completed by patients to ascertain perceptions of their health status, perceived level of disability, and quality of life without the interpretation, guidance or support from a Surgeon or other medical or Allied Health Professional.

Data is input into EOC Outcomes, a purpose built, outcomes data collection tool using iMedDoc part of the Clanwilliam group.

Primary data storage: Trust based system: http://10.180.131.169/eocv10/main

Secondary data storage (anonymised): Online – Rackspace – A government approved cloud-based server.

Both are:

  • secure, safe and NHS Compliant Systems;
  • secure services using ‘N3 data network’;
  • NHS Information Governance compliant.
